After you activate the new option about dashboard widget, you will find this in dashboard:

WARNING: Overview uses External API.

From version 1.2.3 even Overview was ported to use External API as for Dashboard for speed up page generation.

You had to activate External API into Option (set a random key and then activate the flag) to see Overview or Dashboard.
